CNATAIPEI -- The Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) announced yesterday that it has decided to leave its key interest rates unchanged, after concluding its quarterly policymaking meeting.

The central bank maintained the discount rate at 1.875 percent, the rate of accommodations with collateral at 2.25 percent and the rate of accommodations without collateral at 4.125 percent.
The decision was widely expected by the market as many analysts think that Taiwan needs ample liquidity to move its economy forward.
The bank has now retained the same interest rates for nine consecutive quarters.
In August, the government lowered its forecast for 2013 economic growth from 2.40 percent to 2.31 percent, citing slower investment and weaker exports.
