Barbara McCurdy, managing partner of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner LLP, suggested Taiwanese firms develop “strong patents,” which have a wide scope of patent claims, covering not only the companies' own products but also other related applications in the industry.
“Sometimes they have too much focus on how many patents. But if they are not strong patents, they won't scare anyone,” she said when answering reporters' questions at a media briefing in Taipei, which was organized as part of a celebration for the 10th anniversary of Finnegan's Taipei office.
