Machine tool exports to Germany seen to reboundCNA TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taiwan is likely to see an annual increase in its machine tool exports to Germany this year after a decline in 2012, Germany's envoy to Taiwan said yesterday.
March 7, 2013, 11:58 am TWN Michael Zickerick, director-general of the German Institute Taipei, said it is difficult to predict how much the numbers will grow in 2013 because it is still early in the year. He expressed belief, however, that Taiwan's machine tools and other high-tech product exports to Germany will be much better than those of last year because of the improving relations between Taiwan and Germany. “For the time being, I'm optimistic,” he told CNA on the sidelines of an inauguration ceremony for the German Pavilion at the Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS) taking place March 5-10. Zickerick pointed out that Taiwanese companies have established good affiliations with German firms, which are expected to be further strengthened this year.
