HTC J Butterfly forecast to beat local iPhone sales

“As long as we can meet the strong demand in the local market, we'll be able to see 'a golden cross' of the sales figures of the two popular products by the end of January,” said HTC North Asia President Jack Tong on the sidelines of a product launch.

“The popularity of the HTC J Butterfly has exceeded expectations,” he said.

HTC has been doing its utmost to increase shipments and has shortened its supply time from weeks to days, Tong said, expressing hopes that the company can meet all of its orders within two months.

Sales of the HTC J Butterfly for January are expected to triple from December 2012, he said.

Chunghwa Telecom Co., Taiwan's largest mobile provider, has complained that it is short of HTC J Butterfly supply, as customer orders for the phone have reached 40,000 units.
