Chunghwa Telecom's mobile unit to spend record-high level of capitalCNA TAIPEI -- The mobile business group of Chunghwa Telecom Co., Taiwan's largest mobile provider, said yesterday it will see record-high capital expenditure this year to meet surging demand for mobile networks.
January 22, 2013, 4:26 pm TWN The company plans to budget NT$8.9 billion for the year, up from NT$7.2 billion last year, to build more 3G base stations and increase its mobile network bandwidth by 50 percent, said Lin Kuo-feng, president of Chunghwa's mobile business group. The group aims to add 1 million new mobile customers in 2013, representing 50-percent growth from last year, Lin said at a media briefing. He estimated that the company's total revenue will reach NT$79 billion in 2013, up from NT$76.3 billion last year, as an expected decline in voice and text message revenues will partially offset the continued growth of mobile data revenue.
