January car sales look to be promising: auto dealersThe China Post news staff TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Automobile sales in January are double those of last month, with 9,612 cars sold during the first 10 days of this month, car dealers said yesterday.
January 12, 2013, 12:00 am TWN With the coming of Chinese New Year in February, the car market is set to improve even more, they added. Hotai Motor (和泰汽車), however, said that the sales number of the first 10 days of January was not as good as the same period last year. This was due to an earlier Chinese New Year in 2012, adding that this year the holiday arrives in the middle of February, possibly delaying a boost for car sellers, Hotai said. Among the 9,612 cars, 3,489 were sold by Toyota (about 36.3 percent) — the lion's share of the market, according to the statistics of Ministry of Transportation and Communications. The Sinopac Securities Investment Service said that, partly thanks to a new series of promotions and advertising campaigns, January car sales looks promising.
