HAMBURG, Germany -- EVA Airways Co., Taiwan's second largest carrier, will launch another of its popular Hello Kitty-themed planes next year to serve travelers bound for Europe or the United States, EVA Air President Chang Kuo-wei said yesterday.
The plane will be the airline's sixth aircraft featuring a Hello Kitty livery and internal design.
The airline has launched five Hello Kitty planes since last October for use primarily on routes to Japan, South Korea, China and Hong Kong. They have proved to be popular among travelers.
The new Hello Kitty plane will be a Boeing 777, unlike the previous five that were all Airbus A330s, Chang said.
Meanwhile, EVA Air was expected to take delivery later Wednesday in Hamburg, Germany of the first of 12 new Airbus A321s leased by the carrier at the beginning of this year.
All 12 aircraft are scheduled to be delivered by 2014, the airline said.
