The China Post news staff--Starting Friday, Oct. 19, Far Eastern Airport Transport Corp. (FAT) will launch a flight route between Magong, in Taiwan's offshore Penghu County, and Changsha of China's Hunan province, according to a FAT press release issued yesterday.
FAT will operate one round-trip flight on the route per week. The flight will take off at 10:15 a.m. from the Magong Airport every Friday, arriving in Changsha Huanghua Airport at 12:35 p.m. for a flight time of 2 hours and 20 minutes. The return flight will depart from the Huanghua Airport at 1:35 p.m. and land at Magong Airport at 3:55 p.m. the same day.
FAT said that although residents in Changsha are yet to visit Taiwan as free individual tourists, the inauguration of the Magong-Changsha flight will make it more convenient for Chinese people in Hunan province to make trips to the island and its offshore Penghu County.
On another front, the new route also allows one more choice for direct flight to mainland China.
Besides the Magong-Changsha route, FAT now also operates routes between Taiwan and Hong Kong, Wuhan and Xiamen.
