EVA Airways Corp. launches flights to Myanmar commercial capital YangonCNA TAIPEI -- EVA Airways Corp. (EVA), Taiwan's second largest carrier, launched direct flights between Taipei and Yangon yesterday, reflecting the growing interest in Myanmar.
October 10, 2012, 12:30 am TWN EVA Air will operate three flights per week between Taipei and Yangon, hoping to capitalize on the potential for both leisure and business travel to the Southeast Asian country, which has undertaken a spate of political reforms since last year. Greater stability in the country's economy and society means there should be increasing flight demand between Taiwan and Myanmar, EVA Air said. The company also expressed optimism that the new route will cater to foreign travelers, predicting that more than 30 percent of its future clients will be North American passengers flying to Myanmar, also known as Burma, via Taiwan. |
