Mercuries Life applies for listing on TSE

Mercuries Life Insurance on Sept. 5 applied with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) to get listed on the island's main board, seeking to win the trust of investors with its sound asset quality and market competitiveness.
The company was established in July 1993 and was listed on the emerging market on Feb. 9 of this year. The firm had a successful 2011, with total assets hitting NT$503.9 billion, of which NT$439.3 billion is at the firm's disposal.
Last year the firm had first-year premium income of NT$32.8 billion and total premium income of NT$95 billion. Valid policies totaled 2.624 million, and the number of insured totaled 172,000. As of the first half of 2012, the firm's staff size has surpassed 12,000, attracting lots of attention in Taiwan's insurance circle.
According to a survey by CommonWealth Magazine, the company ranks No. 8 among Taiwan's top 100 financial firms in 2012 and No. 5 in terms of financial service provided by insurers. In 2011 the firm ranked No. 3 among Taiwan's benchmark insurance companies. At the 14th Insurance Faith, Hope and Love Awards, Mercuries Life snagged eight honors, the highest among local insurance firms. Among the awards it won were “Best Company Leader — General Manager Meng Chia-jen,” “Most Professional Company in the Business,” “Company with Best Corporate Social Responsibility” and “Company with Best Media Campaigns.”
“We're ready for our new challenge and will bring more value to customers and shareholders,” the firm said.
