HTC reports 4% decline in sales August from July

Smartphone manufacturer HTC yesterday reported August sales of NT$24 billion, a decline of 4 percent from the NT$25 billion for July.

From January to August, sales totaled NT$207.9 billion, a decline of 34.8 percent year-on-year.

With HTC's prediction of sales for the third quarter at between NT$70 billion and NT$80 billion, the company will have to rake in NT$21 billion in September to hit its revenue goal.

The firm will on Sept. 11 unveil the HTC J, which has achieved success in Japan. The new phone is set to hit the market on Sept. 13.

The HTC Desire X meanwhile will be available in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia in September and will contribute to the firm's sales for the month.
