Computer app show expects 600,000 visitors
The China Post news staffThe China Post news staff--Over 600,000 people are expected to visit the Taipei Computer Applications Show, which will take place from Aug. 2 to 6 at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1, organizers of the show said yesterday at a pre-show news conference.

The organizers, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council and the Taipei Computer Association, pointed out that the show this year will feature the theme of “smart mobile applications” as well as nine special pavilions.
Meanwhile, some 200 exhibitors will take part in the show, operating 1,300 booths, organizers said. The show is free of charge and is expected to draw over 600,000 visitors, the organizers said.
To stimulate business at the show, organizers will offer various prizes. On Aug. 2 and 3, fortune bags will be offered to the first 100 people in line, some of whom will find wonderful prizes including single-lens cameras and notebook PCs. Meanwhile, those spending over NT$5,000 at the show will be eligible for a draw, with top prizes including business-class air tickets, Ultrabook PCs and motorcycles.
The top three spenders at the show will walk away with airfare to any destination in Asia, a tablet PC and a digital camera.
Also, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. each day, people will be hearing about the latest from one of the five prestigious brands, namely Acer, Asus, Canon, HTC and Pentax, according to the Computer Applications Show organizers.
