Railways Administration reports train tickets sell out for 4-day holiday in Feb.As of 11 a.m. yesterday morning, over 93,552 transactions had been completed and 175,616 train tickets had been sold, a Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA, 台灣鐵路管理局) official said yesterday. The official also specified that most seats for Taipei to Taitung trains from 10 a.m. Feb. 24 through 2 p.m. Feb. 25 have been sold out, as well as all Tze-chiang Limited Express (自強號) tickets before 5 p.m. on Feb. 24 from Taipei to Hualien. Regarding return tickets, all Tze-chiang tickets from Taitung to Taipei on Feb. 27 and 28 have been sold out, and all seats on the Hualien to Taipei Tze-chiang Expresses from 9 a.m. through 9 p.m. have also been sold out, the TRA said. According to the National Freeway Bureau, traffic over the 228 Memorial Day holidays could exceed 2.3 million cars per day, with the greatest numbers occurring over the two days prior to Feb. 28; traffic on Feb. 27 and 28 are expected to be more relieved. Also, the number of inter-city buses running during the holiday period will also increase, with both Kuo-kuang Motor Transport (國光客運) and UBus (統聯客運) adding at least 20 percent to buses running from Taipei to southern Taiwan. | |||||||||||||
