Cross-strait trade increased 77.1 percent in Jan. and Feb.

Bilateral trade between China and Taiwan totaled US$18.91 billion during the first two months of 2010, a 77.1 percent increase from the same period last year, said China's Ministry of Commerce, yesterday.

China exported US$3.7 billion worth of goods to Taiwan, a rise of 67.7 percent from the same period last year, and imported US$15.21 billion from Taiwan, a rise of 79.5 percent, the ministry said.

For February, trade totaled US$8.66 billion, a decline of 15.5 percent from January. During that month, China exported US$1.61 billion worth of goods to Taiwan, a decline of 23 percent from January, while imported US$7.05 billion from Taiwan, a decline of 13.6 percent, according to data on the ministry's Web site.
