Organizers of the COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2007 awarded 25 products the Best Choice of COMPUTEX TAIPEI distin

ction during the exhibition's opening ceremony.

Exhibition organizer Taiwan External Trade Development Council said that the award was established to encourage technological development and innovation among Taiwan IT companies.

The products were considered in three main criteria: the product's technology and innovation, its export potential, and the product's availability in the market or its passing of the Research and Development stage.

The awards were divided into eleven categories: PC/Server systems, Notebook, Tablet PC; LSI, VLSI; Peripherals, Accessories; Motherboards; Communication, VoIP Products; Multimedia Products; IPC; Car Electronics Products; Product Design; Embedded System Products; and Security Products.

First International Computer, Inc.'s (FIC) GE2+ PC, which won in the Multimedia Products category, is the world's first ultra SFF (Small Form Factor) PC that is based on Mobile Technology.

FIC Senior Vice President John C. Villejo said that the GE2+ is the smallest 1.5 liter computer on the market.

"The slim design for the compact PC is a breakthrough," said Villejo.

Among some of the reasons cited by the organizers for granting an award for GE2+ is its combination of a desktop computer and consumer electronics devices into a successful home entertainment system and its ability to save deskspace up to 40 percent compared to a traditional Entertainment PC.

Also in the Multimedia Products category, Gigabyte's GV-NX76T256HI-RH Graphics Accelerator received an award for its cooling technology.

"The graphics accelerator has an innovative cooling device and the capability to run silent," said Gigabyte's Tony Liao.

The graphics accelerator features the industry's best passive thermal solution, the Silent-Pipe II, which guarantees non-noise and low power consumption.

The graphics accelerator is powered by next-generation 90nm NVIDIA GeForce 7600GT GPU and is built for Microsoft Windows Vista.

In the Communication, VoIP Products category, E-TEN Information Systems Co.'s X800 GPS Pocket PC Phone is the thinnest 3.5G all-in-one Pocket PC phone available in the market.

Exhibition organizers said that the X800 GPS Pocket PC Phone is one of the very few Pocket PC phones in the market that offers 3.5G connectivity, VGA display, GPS, WiFi, and WM6 on a single device.

In the PC/Server Systems, Notebook, Tablet PC category, Acer's 3-liter Aspire L320 is ten times smaller than a tower PC with the components of a full-size, desktop computer.

At 26 dB, the Aspire L320's low sound emission minimizes noise and improves home audio.

The Aspire L320 also features Intel Viiv technology and Intel Core 2 Duo processor which quickens entertainment and multi-threaded applications.

Exhibition organizer said that the groundbreaking Aspire L320 delivers energy-efficient performance and whisper-quiet operation in an incredible space-saving form factor.

During the opening ceremony yesterday, Manager Director Albert Chen of exhibition organizer Taipei Computer Association said that exhibition aims to highlight the 3 G's –– Good Products, Good Price, and Good Platform.

While COMPUTEX TAIPEI has the most number of manufacturing suppliers which offer innovative products, Taiwanese companies have been able to maintain competitive prices through its manufacturing operations in mainland China, said Chen.

The fact that buyers from as many as 130 countries participating in this year's exhibition shows that Computex Taipei has become the world's leading B2B exhibition trading platform, said Chen.
