Dr Sameer Alam, from UNSW@ADFA in Canberra, has received the 2011 ACT Young Tall Poppy of the Year Award from the Australian Institute of Policy and Science.
Dr Alam, who also won the Science category of the ACT awards, was recognised for his research work in advanced air traffic systems, developing the Air Traffic Operations and Management Simulator.
“This award motivates me to further my research efforts towards enabling safe, efficient, robust and green air transportation,” says Dr Alam, of the School of Engineering and Information Technology.
The Young Tall Poppy awards recognise early career researchers in every state and territory who have achieved significant scientific milestones and communicated their work to the broader community.
