Japan improved their win-loss record to 4-4, while Egypt have a 3-5 record to go down to the bottom in the Group D four-team round robin, which also includes world silver medallists Poland and China. A total of 16 teams are divided into four groups. The winners of each group, Brazil and a wildcard chosen by the International Volleyball Federation will reach the final round in Rio de Janeiro from July 23 to 27.
