Taiwan tennis players get into semis of Rogers Cup

TAIPEI--Taiwanese tennis players Hsieh Su-wei, Chan Yung-jan and Chan Hao-ching on Saturday cruised to the semi-finals of the women's doubles at the Rogers Cup in Canada.
Hsieh and her Chinese partner Peng Shuai beat the Russian duo Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina 7-6 (8-6), 7-5, and are scheduled to meet fourth-seeded Cara Black of Zimbabwe and Sania Mirza of India in the semi-finals.
The Chan sisters, meanwhile, defeated Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech Republic and Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands 6-3, 6-3, and will face the top-seeded Italian pair Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci in the next round.
The Rogers Cup is being held Aug. 1-10 in the Canadian city of Montreal.
