Brazilian winger Nene resigned to leaving PSG

Nene was the French league's joint top scorer with 21 goals last season, but has fallen out of favor amid reports of rifts with coach Carlo Ancelotti and sporting director Leonardo.

“It really hurts because of all the messages of support the PSG fans have given me,” Nene said on Tuesday on RMC radio. “It's been a difficult situation. I'm not happy if I'm not playing.”

Brazilian club Santos is among the teams leading the chase to sign Nene, who still has hopes of breaking into the Brazil team in time for next year's World Cup on home soil.

“Santos and a few other teams (in Brazil), there are some teams in the Emirates, in Europe, in China,” he said. “A big club in Europe could be magnificent, I don't want to give names ... I think it will be settled in the next few days.”

AC Milan are reportedly interested in signing Nene, who is torn between moving back home for his family's sake, trying another stint in Europe, or favoring a bigger payday elsewhere.

“The first decision I have to make is whether it's a sporting one or not, then it's Brazil or a big club in Europe. Otherwise it's the Emirates and so on,” he said. “I will have a good look at what's best for me and what's best for my family. My children want me to come back home so that I can see them more often.”

Nene was PSG's best player in the previous two seasons under former coach Antoine Kombouare, but he has been pushed aside this term, scoring only once in limited appearances.

“It's true that I've been hurt, but I don't hold a grudge against anyone,” Nene said. “It's a shame to have helped this club get to where it is and then not having many chances to show that I still have the same level as before. But that's the way things are, that's football, but it's true that I'm disgusted at not being able to do my job properly like before.”

Nene has scored prolifically in France, tallying 55 league goals in 142 games from the wing for PSG and his former club, Monaco. Even though PSG has struggled for form at times this season, Ancelotti has rarely called on Nene, even when others like Javier Pastore were woefully out of form.

“We have a normal relationship, I respect him and we get on well,” Nene said when asked about whether Ancelotti froze him out, but he was less charitable toward Leonardo, who has been behind several big signings — including Pastore — since arriving at the club 18 months ago.

“Leo(nardo) had different opinions to me, I don't know if it's him or the club,” Nene said. “I think I helped the club a lot to be where it is now ... I think I could have been shown more consideration.”
