France playmaker Yoann Gourcuff made his comeback with Bordeaux from two weeks out due to a groin injury. Bordeaux tops the standings with 31 points from 15 matches, four clear of Montpellier, which edged Le Mans 2-1. Lyon and Auxerre could both cut the defending champion's lead back to two points if they both win Sunday. Karim Ait-Fana scored one goal and set up another to give Montpellier its win. Ait-Fana beat the offside trap and chipped goalkeeper Georgi Makaridze in the 12th. He then sent a cross that was headed into the net by a diving Lilian Compan in the 72nd. Anthony Le Tallec had earlier pulled a goal back for Le Mans in the 62nd. Le Mans midfielder Mathieu Dossevi was sent off in the 43rd for elbowing Cyril Jeunechamp. Also Saturday, it was: Rennes 1, Lorient 0; Valenciennes 3, Monaco 1; Nice 1, Marseille 3 and Saint-Etienne 0, Sochaux 0. David Ducourtioux volleyed home a cross from Johan Audel to give Valenciennes the lead in the 27th. But Brazilian midfielder Nene notched his 10th goal of the season to equalize for Monaco in the 50th from the penalty spot. Nene was fouled by Ivory Coast defender Siaka Tiene before consolidating his spot as the top scorer in the league. Mamadou Samassa flicked home a cross from Audel in the 85th to make it 2-1. Tunisia midfielder Fahid Ben Khalfallah added a third goal for Valenciennes in the fourth minute of stoppage time following an assist from Audel. Valenciennes has 26 points, the same as Lyon and Auxerre. Moussa Sow scored in the second minute for Rennes, converting the rebound after goalkeeper Lionel Cappone had stopped a header from Ghana forward Asamoah Gyan. Nice went down to 10 men in the 44th when Onyekachi Apam was red-carded for headbutting defender Gabriel Heinze. Senegal striker Mamadou Niang put Marseille ahead with a close-range shot in the 18th off a low cross from Fabrice Abriel, raising his tally to seven goals this season. Nice leveled when Mamadou Bagayoko knocked down a high ball for Kafoumba Coulibaly to score in the 33rd. Marseille's Lucho Gonzalez stabbed home a headed pass from Niang in the 77th before Ivory Coast forward Bakari Kone outpaced the Nice defense to slip the ball past goalkeeper David Ramirez Ospina in the 86th.
