Updated Thursday, March 11, 2010 10:47 am TWN, AP Ammann closes in on World Cup titleAmmann soared 128.5 and 126 meters for 251 points, beating second-place Adam Malysz of Poland by 16.9 points. “We had a bit of turbulence in the air, but I know this hill since a long time,” Ammann said. “After all it became a very good competition, a good day. I'm always good at the end of the season.” Ammann leads the standings by 183 points ahead of defending champion Gregor Schlierenzauer of Austria, who finished 11th. With two events left, Ammann needs just another 18 points to clinch his first overall title. The season wraps up with meets in Lillehammer, Norway, on Friday and Oslo on Sunday. “I hope I can succeed,” Ammann said. “I hope I can bring this shape to Oslo and win it.” Ammann swept both individual events at the Vancouver Olympics and won Sunday's World Cup event in Lahti, Finland.
