Updated Wednesday, February 3, 2010 11:00 am TWN, AP LeMond and Trek bicycles settle two-year lawsuitTrek general counsel, Robert Burns, tells the Wisconsin State Journal the deal includes two US$100,000 payments by Trek to 1in6.org, a charity with which LeMond is involved. Burns also said Monday that a licensing deal that began in 1995 was terminated on Jan. 30, meaning LeMond now has the rights to the LeMond bicycle brand. Trek stopped making LeMond bikes in April 2008, when the Waterloo bicycle manufacturer sued to end the collaboration. Trek had said LeMond would renege on promises that included curbing his comments about doping in cycling to focus on the brand. LeMond complained Trek didn't promote his brand. He says in a statement he's pleased the issue has been resolved. Subscribe to The China Post and save 25%. Click here |
