The 25-year-old American has been dominating the women's World Cup for several years now, winning back-to-back overall titles and her performance in Lake Louise makes her the favorite heading into the Vancouver Olympics in just nine weeks. “It is an Olympic year and it is important to have fast skis,” said Vonn, who earned over US$75,000 in prize money for the three races. “It has been a good start. I want to keep the ball rolling and keep my confidence high.” With the two downhill victories Vonn now has seven downhill titles in the past six years surpassing German legend Katja Seizinger with the most wins at Lake Louise. Seizinger also won here six times in both downhill and super-G. She is also tied for fifth all-time with former Swiss skier Maria Walliser most career World Cup downhill wins at 14. Vonn needs two more downhill wins to tie Seizinger for fourth place all-time. Austrian Annemarie Moser-Proell has the downhill record with 36 wins. “That is incredible,” Vonn said of Moser-Proell's record. “I don't know if I will every reach that one day. I just go out there and try to get on the podium as much as I can.” With two downhills in Lake Louise, next year Vonn could move within one of record for most downhill wins on a single course. Austrian Renate Goetschl won 10 times at Cortina d' Ampezzo in Italy. Vonn has also won more World Cup races than any other American woman in history. Subscribe to The China Post and save 25%.
