Local gymnast suspended for 2 years for substancesChiu tested positive for Hydrochlorothiazide during rehearsals for the World Games, currently being held in Kaohsiung last November. Chiu was not due to compete in the games. An additional fine of 5,000 Swiss francs was also imposed by the FIG. The CTGA yesterday admitted that it failed to maintain effective communications with the FIG and Chiu, but questioned why it took the FIG so long to reach its decision. Chang Ying-hsien, CTGA's secretary, said that he did not understand FIG's internal procedures and called the FIG to hear Chiu's appeal. He also called the fine oppressive, and said he will go to Kaohsiung on July 22 to discuss the matter with FIG representatives. | |||||||||||||
