Chara helps Bruins snatch win over Penguins

BOSTON -- Zdeno Chara scored with 13 seconds left in regulation after David Krejci tied it late, lifting the Boston Bruins to a 3-2 win over Pittsburgh on Saturday in a game that was overshadowed by Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik getting taken off the ice on a stretcher.

Reilly Smith also scored for the Bruins, who haven't lost in regulation at home since late October (10-0-2).

Midway into the opening period, Shawn Thronton was given a match penalty for grabbing Orpik from behind, pulling him to the ice and punching him when he was down. Orpik appeared to be dazed by a punch, but may have also hit his head on the ice.

Orpik was taken to the hospital but was expected to travel home with the team.

Chris Kunitz and James Neal scored power-play goals for the Penguins, who had their season-high, five-game winning streak halted.

In other games, Tyler Seguin scored a hat trick to lead the Dallas Stars past the Philadelphia Flyers 5-1, Martin Jones earned his first NHL shutout in his second career start to help the Los Angeles Kings defeat the New York Islanders 3-0 and Corey Perry scored his team-high 18th goal as the Anaheim Ducks beat the St. Louis Blues 5-2.

Dallas and Philadelphia were tied 1-all when Seguin came in on a 2-on-1 rush with Jamie Benn only 39 seconds into the second period. The Stars then scored three times in a span of 1:02 to break the game open.

Seguin took a backhand pass from Alex Goligoski to score from the slot at 17:03, and completed his natural hat trick 40 seconds later.

The hat trick was Seguin's second this season and third in his four-year career. He was in his second game back after missing two because of concussion-like symptoms.

Jones followed up his victory over Anaheim in his NHL debut with a perfect effort against the Islanders, who have lost nine in a row. He made 16 saves to earn the shutout.

Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown scored for the Kings and Tyler Toffoli added an empty-net goal.

The Islanders are in the midst of their longest losing streak since dropping a franchise-record 14 straight in late 2010.

In St. Louis, rookie Frederik Andersen made 26 saves for Anaheim, which won its second game in a row after beating defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago in a shootout Friday.

Andersen, who won his first six starts, improved to 8-1 with his second successive victory. He leads all rookie goalies in the NHL in wins.

Ryan Getzlaf, Andrew Cogliano, Nick Bonino and Mark Fistric also scored for the Ducks, who had not won in regulation in their previous eight trips to St. Louis.

Elsewhere, New Jersey's Eric Gelinas scored a power-play goal 1:15 into overtime as the Devils shook off the tying goal in the closing seconds of regulation to beat the New York Rangers 4-3.

Martin Brodeur made 21 saves for the Devils, who have won all three meetings with the Rangers this season.

Washington's Braden Holtby made 34 saves and Alex Ovechkin scored his NHL-high 22nd goal this season as the Capitals extended the Nashville Predators' losing streak to five games with a 5-2 victory.

Montreal's Brandon Prust and Tomas Plekanec each had a goal and an assist to lead the Canadiens over the Buffalo Sabres 3-2, extending the club's winning streak to five games.

Winnipeg's Mark Scheifele scored 1:04 into overtime to lift the Jets over the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 and James van Riemsdyk and Mason Raymond scored in the shootout as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Ottawa Senators 4-3.

Also, Jonathan Huberdeau scored in the third period as the Florida Panthers topped the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 and Jiri Hudler scored 3:14 into overtime to give the Calgary Flames a 2-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.
