Devils win 8th straight on road

OTTAWA -- Zach Parise and David Clarkson each had a goal and an assist on the power play as the New Jersey Devils won their eighth straight NHL road game with a 3-2 comeback victory over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.

The Devils are 8-0 away from New Jersey, the second-longest road winning streak to open a season in NHL history. The Buffalo Sabres started 10-0 on the road in 2006.

Predators 3, Kings 1 At Los Angeles, Francis Bouillon, Cody Franson and Joel Ward scored to lead Nashville over Los Angeles.

Franson, playing in his ninth NHL game, scored his second goal of the season to give the Predators a 2-0 lead.

Maple Leafs 5, Red Wings 1 At Toronto, Phil Kessel scored his first goal with Toronto and Jonas Gustavsson made 35 saves to lead the Maple Leafs over Detroit.

After a rough start, the Maple Leafs have been improving — buoyed in large part by Gustavsson becoming the goalie. Toronto moved out of the NHL basement by winning two in a row and earning points in seven straight games.

Wayne Primeau, Jeff Finger, John Mitchell and Alexei Ponikarovsky also scored for Toronto.

Bruins 4, Sabres 2 At Boston, Mark Recchi and Zdeno Chara scored as goal-starved Boston halted a rough span with a win against Buffalo.

Boston had scored only once in its previous three games, all losses. Boston also snapped an 0-for-20 skid on the power play. Byron Bitz and Marco Sturm had the Bruins' other goals.

Capitals 7, Panthers 4 At Washington, Tomas Fleischmann scored twice during a five-goal third period, extending his point streak to a career-high five games, and short-handed Washington beat Florida for a sweep of their series. Washington played a third straight game without two-time NHL MVP Alex Ovechkin, who has an upper body injury.

Blue Jackets 3, Hurricanes 2 At Columbus, Ohio, Rick Nash scored Columbus' third goal in a 2:41 span of the third period to send Carolina to a team-record 12th consecutive loss.

Erik Cole and Tim Gleason had goals for Carolina, which lost goalie Cam Ward after he was cut by a skate and taken to a hospital.

Flyers 2, Blues 1, SO At Philadelphia, Mika Pyorala scored in the shootout to lead Philadelphia over St. Louis.

Pyorala's goal in the fourth round was the difference as the Flyers won their fourth consecutive game. Philadelphia's Claude Giroux and St. Louis' Brad Boyes each scored in the first round.

Islanders 6, Thrashers 3 At Uniondale, New York, Sean Bergenheim, Blake Comeau and Jack Hillen each scored their first goals of the season to help New York break out of a two-game offensive drought and beat Atlanta.

Lightning 3, Canadiens 1 At Montreal, Ryan Malone and Alex Tanguay each had a goal and an assist to lead Tampa Bay over Montreal.

Antero Niittymaki made 36 saves, conceding only Brian Gionta's seventh goal for Montreal.

Wild 3, Stars 2 At St. Paul, Minnesota, Cal Clutterbuck and Mikko Koivu scored first-period goals and Minnesota held on to beat Dallas. Loui Eriksson scored twice on the power play for the Stars.

Flames 3, Rangers 1 At Calgary, Alberta, Jarome Iginla scored the go-ahead goal and Miikka Kiprusoff made 32 saves as Calgary won its third straight.

Iginla's eighth goal of the season at 16:47 of the second period came on a power play and broke a 1-1 tie.

Sharks 5, Penguins 0 At San Jose, California, Joe Pavelski had a goal and an assist in his first game back from the injured list, and Evgeni Nabokov made 27 saves as San Jose beat Pittsburgh for the seventh straight time at home.

Ducks 4, Coyotes 3 At Anaheim, California, Mike Brown's goal off a face-off in the third period became a surprising game-winner as Anaheim held on to beat Phoenix.

After building a 4-0 lead on goals by Teemu Selanne, Bobby Ryan, Corey Perry and Brown, the Ducks surrendered three quick tallies to Phoenix in an 8-minute span of the third period.
