Woods had surgery after wife's attack: report

Tiger Woods had emergency plastic surgery on his face after being clubbed by his wife on the night of his infamous crash, a new report claims.

A letter posted on the blog of retired but respected U.S. sportswriter Furman Bisher, claims to have the full sequence of dramatic events that led the golfing legend to crash his SUV outside his home on Thanksgiving Night (November 26).

The letter, which Bisher says is from “a trustworthy journalist I have known for years,” is written by someone who claims to have sources in Woods' neighbourhood and at his talent agency, IMG.

According to the letter, Woods's wife Elin Nordegren, 29, discovered “incriminating evidence” on the golfer's phone while he was out playing poker and confronted him when he returned home. When Woods, 33, refused to admit to his infidelity, she allegedly rounded on him with a 9-iron golf club, smashing him in the face.

The strike caused “a huge gash in the right side of his face ... virtually knocking two of his upper teeth out,” the letter claims. A terrified Tiger tried to flee the scene in his SUV, but Elin allegedly smashed the windows before he crashed it into a fire hydrant.

The letter also claims that Woods did not return home after attending hospital, instead flying to Phoenix, Arizona to undergo emergency plastic surgery and cosmetic dentistry.

This version of events would explain why Woods was unable to give an interview to police in the aftermath of the crash, and would also provide a reason that the superstar has not shown his face in public since the incident.
