Yang takes lead at Hong Kong Open

HONG KONG -- U.S. PGA Championship winner Y.E. Yang shot a 3-under 67 to share the clubhouse lead with Malaysia's Danny Chia halfway through the second round of the Hong Kong Open on Friday. South Korea's Yang was at 7-under with Chia (66) at the US$2.5 million event, co-sanctioned by the European and Asian Tours, after overnight leader Udorn Duangdecha of Thailand stumbled with five bogeys and a double bogey.

“The greens were fast, but the lighting wasn't as good and they were also dark because of the moisture so they were hard to read,” said Yang, who became Asia's first major champion when he beat Tiger Woods for the PGA Championship in August.

India's S.S.P. Chowrasia (69) and Ireland's Peter Lawrie (68) were one stroke off the lead. Spain's Pablo Larrazabal (67) and Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell (68) were two strokes behind, along with Asian Tour Order of Merit leader Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand (71) and American Anthony Kang (66). Duangdecha shot a 4-over 74 to drop to 4 under at the par-70, 6,702-yard Hong Kong Golf Club course.
