Seven-time champions the Crusaders beat the Hurricanes 35-18 in Super Rugby on Friday, keeping their slim playoffs hope alive and forcing the top-ranked Hurricanes to sweat for another week over the prospect of a home playoff in New Zealand.

The defending champion New South Wales Waratahs ended the Hurricanes' unbeaten start to the season at seven matches Saturday, winning 29-24 in a thrilling match in which both teams scored four tries.

South African teams rejoiced this weekend with three wins over Australian opposition as New Zealand's Wellington Hurricanes preserved a six-point lead at the top of Super Rugby.
