Roy Jones stops Jeff Lacy in non-title bout

BILOXI, Mississippi -- Former four-division world champion Roy Jones Jr. stopped Jeff Lacy after 10 rounds Saturday of their scheduled 12-round non-title light heavyweight bout.

Jones improved to 54-5, with 40 wins inside the distance, pummelling Lacy with increasing dominance as the fight progressed.

Jones opened a cut at Lacy's right eye with a left hook in the third, and by the seventh Lacy's eyes were swollen.

Lacy fell to 25-3 with 17 knockouts as he was unable to find an answer for Jones's speed.

Jones even interrupted himself a few times to tell the crowd “watch this” before unloading on Lacy.

Jones led on all three judges' scorecards when the match was stopped.

The victory followed Jones's fifth-round stoppage of outclassed Omar Sheika on March 21.

Last November Jones dropped a unanimous decision to unbeaten Welshman Joe Calzaghe at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Jones said his next fight will be November 21 in Australia against two-time world champion Danny Green, who posted a fifth round knockout of Julio Cesar Dominguez in a cruiserweight bout on the same card.
