Maya Moore sets WNBA record, Lynx beat Liberty

MINNEAPOLIS -- Maya Moore scored 30 points on a record-setting night as the Minnesota Lynx defeated the New York Liberty 87-82 on Saturday.

Moore became the first WNBA player ever to score at least 30 points in four straight games. She hit four 3-pointers in the game's opening minutes and finished 11 for 19 from the field. After scoring a career-high 38 in a win at Tulsa on Friday, Moore is averaging a league-best 33.8 points per game.

Lindsay Whalen had 21 points while Seimone Augustus chipped in 18 points and rookie Asia Taylor added 10 for the Lynx (4-0).

Tina Charles led New York with 24 points and 14 rebounds, while Cappie Pondexter added 18 points and Essence Carson chipped in 14 for the Liberty (1-2).

Sky 87, Dream 73 Elena Delle Donne scored 27 points as the Sky sprinted to a victory over the Dream and the team's best start in club history.

Allie Quigley scored 13 points and Courtney Vandersloot, Courtney Clements and Markeisha Gatling each added 10 for Chicago (4-0). Vandersloot also had 11 assists.

The 4-0 start in the best in Chicago's nine WNBA seasons.

The Sky led by as many as 11 points late in the third quarter on the way to a 65-57 advantage heading into the final 10 minutes. The Dream never got closer than eight.

Erika DeSouza led Atlanta with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Shoni Schimmel had 17 points.

Atlanta (2-1) was without All-Star Angel McCoughtry, a late scratch because of a shoulder problem.

Storm 73, Mystics 65 Sue Bird scored 16 points and the Storm avoided their second 0-4 start in club history with a 73-65 victory over the Mystics.

Bird sank a 3-pointer with 1:30 remaining to give the Storm (1-3) a 67-60 lead after Washington pulled within four points using a 7-0 run. Camille Little had 15 points and Tanisha Wright added 14.

The Storm lost four straight to open their inaugural 2000 season en route to a league-worst 6-26 record.
