Lin's struggles continue in Rockets' loss to Spurs

TAIPEI--Houston Rockets guard Jeremy Lin was underwhelming for the third consecutive time in the preseason Sunday in the Rockets' 116-107 loss to the San Antonio Spurs and admitted afterward that he was not satisfied with his performance.

Lin, who signed a US$25.1 million three-year contract with the Rockets in July, scored four points on 1 of 10 shooting from the floor and had only one assist against the Spurs.

"I'm just trying to find my rhythm, find my comfort level again," Lin was quoted as saying by the Houston Chronicle. "I'm just happy it's a preseason game to be honest. I can't live with this in season. I have a lot to learn. I will make sure I learn from this."

In his first three preseason games with his new team so far, Lin has shot only 23 percent from the floor and turned the ball over 2.33 times per game. "Jeremy struggled," Rockets coach Kevin McHale said. "He'll have to be better. If you ask Jeremy, he's not happy with his play either. He's a young kid. We're not talking about a 30- year-old guy, nine-year, 10-year vet. You're talking about a guy that has (25) starts under his belt."

The Harvard graduate, who recently said the left knee in which he had a torn meniscus surgically repaired six months ago was still bothering him, was unable to lead the Rockets offense effectively in the first quarter, when the Spurs took a 27-16 lead.

The young Rockets later rallied to as close as 56-55 in the third quarter on three three-pointers by Jeremy Lamb and Chandler Parsons, but the Spurs quickly regained the momentum and widened their advantage to double digits before sealing the victory.

The Rockets next face the Dallas Mavericks in Dallas on Monday.
