MANILA--Taiwan scored an easy win over Singapore on the first day of the 8th Asian 12U Baseball Championship in the Philippines Wednesday, beating its rival 27-0 in just three innings.
The Taiwanese team finished the game against Singapore early after scoring 11 runs in the first inning, 14 in the second, and two more in the third.
The game was ended after the third inning and Taiwan declared the winner. The team recorded 13 base hits during the game, including a three run home run by Lee Han-sheng.
The team will go up against South Korea on Thursday. It will then face teams from the Philippines, Indonesia and Japan on Aug. 29, 30 and 31, respectively.
A total of six teams are playing in the five-day tournament at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium in Manila.
The Asian 12U Baseball Championship, organized by the Baseball Federation of Asia and held every other year since 2000, is open to players aged 12 and under.
Taiwan has won all of the championships except for the one in 2000, which was won by South Korea, and the one in 2012, which was taken by China.
