Cloudy, dry weather for the weekend, rain on way

TAIPEI--The weather in Taiwan will be mostly dry over the coming weekend, although some areas will be cloudy, the Central Weather Bureau forecast Friday, adding however that conditions will become wetter next week with the approach of another stationary front.

Rain across the island during the daytime hours on Friday will lessen as night falls, the bureau said. Temperatures will drop slightly, with highs in the north and northeast reaching 25-27 degrees Celsius, with 28-29 degrees in the south and 22-25 degrees in the west.

Over the weekend, the weather all over the island will be dry but overcast. Daytime temperatures will be as high as 30 degrees or more, while southeastern areas will see warm and dry foehn winds sweeping down from the central mountain range, the weather bureau forecast.

From Monday, the island will experience rainy weather, with showers or thundershowers in the north, northeast and east due to the approach of the weather front, the bureau said.
