March 4, 2013, 12:26 am TWN The left-hander yielded two hits and of his 23 pitches, 17 were for strikes. “I'm really excited,” Chen was quoted by The Baltimore Sun as saying. “I feel really good. It's been too long for me.” Since Chen suffered a knee complaint at the end of last season, the Orioles postponed his first start for spring training, according to the newspaper. “I really appreciate our coaching staff because I had soreness on my knee before, so they pushed back (my start) a little more for me,” he said. “But really, I'm on schedule right now.” After pitching at the highest professional level in Japan for years, Chen made his Major Baseball League (MLB) debut in April 2012 for the Orioles. He was also the Orioles' first 12-game winner in five seasons, finishing with a 4.02 ERA and 154 strikeouts in 192 2/3 innings. The 27-year-old returned to Taiwan last December after his rookie season in the MLB. He said when preparing to return to the U.S. that his goal is to pitch at least 200 innings in the new season.
