Japan's Nishioka poised to sign with MLB's TwinsIn an e-mail sent to reporters who regularly cover the Twins, Smith said: “Contract negotiations are ongoing, but not complete.” Nishioka and his wife arrived in the Twin Cities area of Minneapolis-St. Paul from Japan on Thursday morning. The Twins won exclusive Major League negotiating rights with Nishioka with a multimillion-dollar bid to the Chiba Lotte Marines, who currently hold the rights to the infielder. The Twins have until Dec. 26 to sign Nishioka. He won the Pacific League batting title last season with a .346 average, adding 11 homers, 59 RBIs and 22 stolen bases. | |||||||||||||
