Phillies 9, Diamondbacks 5 In Philadelphia, Ryan Howard hit a tiebreaking two-run homer as Philadelphia beat Arizona to record its season-high sixth straight win. Jayson Werth and Cody Ransom also connected for the Phillies, who moved within 31/2 games of East-leading Atlanta, cutting the deficit in half over the past five days. They have won nine straight at home, their longest since winning 16 straight in 1991. Philadelphia reliever David Herndon (1-2) recorded his first major league victory. Raul Ibanez hit a two-out RBI single off Arizona's Jordan Norberto (0-1) to tie it 5-5 in the sixth and Howard followed a drive to left-center. Astros 6, Cubs 1 In Houston, Brett Myers pitched a complete game to steer Houston past Chicago. It was the 10th career complete game for Myers (8-6). He struck out a career high-tying 12 batters and didn't give up a run until a solo homer in the ninth. He also extended his club reocrd for consecutive starts of at least six innings to begin a season to 21. Lance Berkman hit his fifth career grand slam in the Astros' six-run seventh inning with the team leading 2-0. Chicago's Andrew Cashner (1-4) took the loss. Pirates 4, Rockies 2 In Denver, Zach Duke threw six solid innings to help Pittsburgh snap a four-game losing streak and down Colorado. Duke (5-9) gave up two homer in the fifth but otherwise shut out the Rockies hitters. Colorado, which suffered its seventh straight defeat, lost reliever Huston Street to a freak injury before the game. Street suffered a bruised abdomen when he was hit by a line drive as he warmed up in right field during batting practice.
