Seattle's Suzuki out for now with left calf strain

SEATTLE -- All-Star outfielder Ichiro Suzuki is out of the Seattle Mariners' lineup because of tightness in his left calf.

Suzuki was not in his normal leadoff spot in the lineup for Monday night's game against the Oakland Athletics. Center fielder Franklin Gutierrez was batting leadoff, while Bill Hall was starting in right field for Seattle.

Manager Don Wakamatsu says Suzuki felt better on Monday and that the calf is not strained but just tight. He hopes Suzuki might be able to play by Wednesday.

Suzuki left Sunday's game in Cleveland before the start of the ninth inning.
