Acer notebooks show strong Q2 growth in Asia Pacific Acer's notebooks demonstrated impressive second quarter growths in unit shipment in the Asia Pacific region, the company said in a release yesterday. Acer doubled its notebook growths in the region compared to the same period last year, and ranked first place in Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand -- according to preliminary figures released by global IT market intelligence and advisory firm, IDC. The outstanding results confirm the long-term sustainability of Acer's channel business model, which already proved to be successful in the European and U.S. markets. Now expanding to the Asia Pacific region, the model involves working with first-class PC industry suppliers and channel partners to effectively manage our global logistics, worldwide channels and customer service. The Q2 2005 preliminary data showed that Acer notebooks ranked third place in Asia Pacific, with 104 percent year-on-year growth and demonstrated the highest growth rate among the top five vendors. Furthermore, Acer ranked No. 5 in terms of total PCs and desktop PCs in the region. In Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, where Acer notebooks ranked No. 1, Acer again demonstrated outstanding year-on-year growths with 169 percent in Australia and 135 percent in Malaysia -- the highest among the top five vendors. In Indonesia and Thailand, Acer notebooks grew by 178 percent and 91 percent, respectively. For total PCs, Acer ranked No. 2 in Indonesia and Thailand, No. 3 in Australia and Malaysia. In Taiwan, Acer ranked No. 1 and again displayed the highest year-on-year growth among the top five vendors. |
