TAITRA invites retailers to island shopping spree The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), in an effort to help local manufacturers become large-scale overseas suppliers, is arranging for U.S.-based Boise Office Solution and Europe's Karstadt Quelle AG, two large chain stores, to come to Taiwan. Boise Office Solution, a subsidiary of the Boise Cascade Corporation, specializes in office supplies and office furniture. The company recorded an annual revenue of US$4 billion for last year. Also in December of last year, Boise Office Solution acquired Office Max meaning it now has 1,000 stores and 40,000 employees across the U.S. Boise Office Solution will be coming to Taiwan on June 7 and 8 to purchase various items such as wall clocks, body pillows, gift pens, stopwatches, money-printing machines, 17-inch LCD monitors, and 17 and 19-inch CRT monitors, according to TAITRA. Karstadt Quelle AG Sport Department's Far East Manager Joerg Hoberg will also be coming to Taiwan to purchase items. He will be hosting a business conference at the Taipei International Conventional Center on June 8. Currently, there are more than 150 local companies registered to attend. Karstadt Quelle operates about 150 department stores, 30 specialty stores, and 120 sports clothing and shoes chain stores. It is estimated that the company earns approximately 642 million euros annually. The main items they will be purchasing are sportswear, cardiovascular equipment, camping gear, outdoor equipment, bicycles, skateboards and other sports related items. |
