According to James Liu, chairman of the Information Service Industry Association, the summit has broadened the access for Taiwan's ICT operators to the overseas markets and served as a catalyst for further development and business promotion.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the summit, President Ma Ying-jeou noted that the just-signed economic cooperation framework agreement (ECFA) will lift Taiwan's status in the region as a technology powerhouse. He also encouraged local ICT operators to boost research and marketing capabilities.

On the exhibition floor were seven theme pavilions featuring the best practices of ICT operators in Taiwan and the Asia Pacific.

In a bid to let visitors get a better understanding of its efforts in ICT development and application, the Taipei City government unveiled its “intelligent transportation system,” which incorporates simultaneous traffic information, bus routes, and parking instruction into the system.

Furthermore, the Taipei City traffic information website was launched to facilitate drivers' access to a variety of instant information on the road. The website can be downloaded to mobile phones, PDAs and smartphones.
