Prosecutors arrest two more baseball players for game-fixing
The two arrested were Hsu Jen-chieh (許人介) and Chen Yung-che (陳永哲), former team members of the Chinatrust Whales (中信鯨), which dismissed in 2008 following the game fixing scandals of Dmedia T-RE-- (米迪亞暴龍). Chen joined the team in 2006 as an infielder and served in amateur baseball team Taoyuan Aerotropolis (桃園航空城業餘棒球隊) since 2009; Hsu joined the Whales in 2007 and left the baseball field after the team was laid off. The Banciao District Prosecutors Office interrogated Hsu and Chen yesterday and named them defendants for their alleged deep involvements in the case, and asked the court to detain both as of last night. The prosecutors had previously detained four former Whales players including Tu Chang-wei (杜章偉), Tseng Han-chou (曾漢州), Kao Chun-chiang (高俊強), and Lin Yung-kun (林永坤). In addition, former Chinatrust Whales pitcher Huang Hung-jen (黃宏任) and catcher Lee Yi-wei (李義偉) had admitted involving in the scam and tuned in the money earned from throwing games. |
