KMT legislator to sue cow dung burger student TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Lu Hsueh-chang, the chief secretary of Kuomintang (KMT) caucus said yesterday that he would not rule out the possibility of filing a lawsuit against a National Taiwan University doctoral student who exposed a total of 22 legislators' mobile phone numbers to the public. The student, Chu Cheng-chi, captured the nation's attention by eating a burger made of cow dung a few weeks ago to protest the government's relaxation of U.S. bone-in beef import regulations. In order to protest against a recent proposal by the KMT caucus to amend the Act Governing Food Sanitation, Chu first disclosed a list of names of KMT legislators and their office telephone numbers. Chu held an additional press conference yesterday to oppose the amendment, where he revealed cell phone numbers of the KMT legislators who proposed the draft. As a public figure, Lu said it is reasonable that his phone number can be obtained easily, but said that Chu's behavior has violated the law. The lawmaker said he was considering a lawsuit against Chu. |
