According to bureau officials, the pigs on four out of seven farms in the southern Taiwan township tested negative for the H1N1 virus from Nov. 11-13, after the virus was discovered among hundreds of hogs on a farm Nov. 5, in what was said to be a jump of the new flu strain from humans to pigs. Meanwhile, the pigs on the other three farms are being tested, but the outbreak has been stemmed, bureau officials said.

It has been fully confirmed that the virus has been stamped out on the farms, and the restrictions on them will be lifted Monday afternoon to allow farmers to sell their pigs on the wholesale markets, the officials added. However, the officials urged that inspection personnel should vigorously follow self-health management guidelines if they develop cough, fever, or body pains.
