Taipei may regulate outer air conditioners TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The installation of air conditioners on the outer walls of buildings will be regulated. Since the Taipei City Government has no rules imposed upon the numbers of air-condition units placed outside, the often untidily-placed air conditioners not only create eyesores that damage the city image, but also create possible dangers for the public, said Chen Li-huei, Taipei City legislator. Taipei City Deputy Mayor Lin Chien-yuan explained that the City Building Administration Office has drafted a regulation on Taipei City landscaping, which will include air-condition installation inspections and is expected to be considered by the city legislative council meeting next year. If regulation is passed next year, a higher housing tax may be levied upon violators for the improper placement of air-condition units, said Hau Lon-bin, Mayor of Taipei City. |
