Three Thai victims of explosion identified TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The three victims of a gas explosion caused during a quarrel between two groups of foreign workers in Taoyuan County on Nov. 6 were identified and three suspects were arrested. The three include male workers Chimma Monrak and Chusak, both from Thailand, and Kung Chin-ying, a Thai woman who married a Taiwanese man and acquired citizenship. The argument allegedly happened due to the language barrier while they were playing cards in a KTV close to a restaurant where the two groups met. The quarrel, involving five Vietnamese and 10 Thai workers, ended with a fire being set and a gas explosion, leaving three dead and seven injured. One survivor is in critical condition with 70 percent of the body burnt. The Taoyuan Fire Department dispatched 14 fire trucks and extinguished the blaze within 20 minutes. The police apprehended three male Vietnamese suspects with the help of footage from a surveillance camera and the restaurant owner. |
