Candidate involved in sex extortion CHANGHUA, Taiwan -- A female candidate for Changhua County councilor was reportedly to have become a victim of sex extortion. The suspect, surnamed Hung, was accused of extorting the unnamed candidate to force her out of the upcoming election, using her naked photos taken after he raped her. According to reports, the suspect and the victim have been long-time friends and were in a local motel to discuss election matters. The victim claimed Hung raped her and took pictures of her naked body with a cell phone. Hung then used the pictures in an attempt to extort NT$1 million and force her to step out of the election. Under pressure, the 40-year old victim gave up her candidacy for the election that was set to take place at the end of this year. In response to the accusation, Hung claimed their relationship was mutual, including the sex acts and naked photos. He added that the two met at least eight times per month. During the police investigation, it was found Hung had a prior history of crime and discovered photos of other possible female victims on Hung's computer. The prosecutor Chen De-fang stated the incident occurred in August of this year. The 60-year-old suspect arranged a meeting with the victim at a motel to maintain secrecy on the election matters. Chen reported in a court order, Hung denied all allegations of sex extortion and insisted it was a consensual relationship. The naked photos were taken with the victim's acknowledgement, according to Hung. From media reports, the election had seven candidates fighting over five spots. One of the spots is a guaranteed spot for a female candidate according to the election rules. There were a total of two female candidates including the victim. |
