Trade surplus with China hits US$15.77 bil.

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taiwan's trade surplus with China reached US$15.77 billion during the first half of the year, said the Bureau of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, yesterday.

Its surplus for June totaled US$3.19 billion, the highest in eight months, it said. Bilateral trade totaled US$36.23 billion for the six months ending in June, a decline of 36.2 percent from the same period in 2008, it said.

Exports and imports totaled US$26 billion and US$10.23 billion, a decline of 35.9 percent and 36.8 percent, respectively, it said.
