Oyster omelets is the favorite local food of Chinese visitors
In the study conducted by the credit card issuer Visa Inc. on the preferences of Greater China visitors to Taiwan, Oyster Omelets topped the list of Taiwanese foods in night markets. The pineapple cake was chosen as the number one on the “must buy” local specialties list. The study pointed out that 90 percent of mainland Chinese and 87 percent of Hong Kong interviewees had a positive impression of traveling in Taiwan. Seventy-five percent of Hong Kongers and 63 percent of mainland Chinese found Taiwan people to be warm and friendly, the report added. The travelers had more difference views on the best Taiwan tourist attractions. Ninety percent of mainland Chinese favored Sun Moon Lake and Alishan. While the two natural wonders of Taiwan were also among the favorites of Hong Kong interviewees, they were also interested in places such as Kenting and Yangmingshan. However, 70 percent of both mainland Chinese and Hong Kong interviewees viewed night markets and hot springs as the premier must-go spots on their trips. On their favorite food, mainland Chinese chose Taiwanese cuisine while Hong Kongers picked steamed dumplings. Meanwhile, oyster omelets secured its place as the unquestioned champion of night market food for all visitors from the Greater China area. Pineapple cakes captured the crown of best Taiwanese specialty by earning 70 percent of votes from interviewees. |
