Music Festival to draw music, nature lovers
The festival consists of three consecutive nights of music: July 3 marks "The Night at Chianshui Bay" event which will feature pop music by local bands while "The Night at Baisha Bay" on July 4 and 5 will showcase a decidedly more orchestral affair, with classical music with the pianoforte and string instruments. Chu Chuan-wei, director-general of the North-Guan Office of the Tourism Bureau, explained that the festival centers around the idea of "listening to the ocean," offering audiences both the romantic atmosphere of the beach as well as the symphonic affect of live music against the sound of crashing tides. With the concerts scheduled for 7 p.m., there is ample time to check out activities and scenic spots nearby. According to Chu, a trip to the North Coast this weekend will coincide with the spectacular flower season in July, which the North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area has marked the "North Coast Flower Festival." The towns of Danshui, Jinshan, Shimen and Sanchi have a combined 72.5 hectares of flowers; among them, helianthus, cosmos, zinnia and lotus are observable in Danshui while cherry blossoms dominate Sanchi. Each town will throw an array of activities and events for the upcoming flower season, Chu added. The tourism administration highly recommended other famous attractions to visit in the area, including the Queen's Head at Yehliu Scenic Area, the Lion's Head Hill, the Juming Museum, Fagu Mountain, and Sanchih. |
